Muse on Monday – December 19, 2022

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone out there!

We all probably have certain images of Christmas and similar adjacent holidays in our minds based on our experiences and what we see on TV and in movies. This may give an idea of what a Christmas story should be (Hallmark has a lot of examples of these). However, the nice thing about fiction is being able to reimagine the familiar and put our own twist on things. The only limit is our imagination, literally.

Story Prompt: December 19, 2022

Write a story about based on the picture below.

If you want to share your story, you can either email me at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com or submit it at the link here. I’d love to publish your story as well.

  1. Is that a reindeer on the far right? I have images of Santa and Mad Max riding shotgun in his sleigh. It’s a very arresting picture that well, need to think more on it. Is there a fire? Did one of the chimneys Santa tried to scooch down go up in flames? Now I’m thinking he’s in the hospital and Mrs. Claus had to take over. to get all those presents delivered. Behind every great Santa is a Mrs Santa.

    1. I’m not sure what that is. I cleaned it up a bit but then posted the original picture anyway, I think. If it is a reindeer, it’s a mutated one, it seems. I’d love to read/write a post-apocalyptic Santa story though. 🙂

  2. Came sniffin’ for another Muse, but loved being greeted by this one all over again. If I may say, would be so cool if you put all your amazing graphics together in a collection. 🙂

    1. Yeah, I missed the 26th, but there will be one from next week. Yes, I could see doing a short-story collection around them.
