My name is David Stewart and I am a writer. I have been writing stories every since I was in elementary school, most quirky, slightly absurd stories, although I like to write in a wide variety of styles and tones. These days I have several blog that I run (The Green-Walled Tower and The Green-Walled Chapel) along with this one. I have also written a number of novels, some of which are available here under the Books section.
I am also a teacher. Although I am not currently teaching, I was a teacher for 13 years and I still consider that a large part of my identity. I taught in Korea for nine years and in the US for four years. During that time, I taught all ages from toddlers to adults, but most of my classes were in elementary schools and middle schools. What I like about teaching that age group is that they are actively exploring the world. They like to push the boundaries and ask questions to see what is possible. They are fascinated by new things and it is easy to get them excited.
The main reason I made this site was to combine these two parts of my identity. I had already been writing stories for my nieces and nephews for year based on their ideas, so I thought it would be fun to expand that idea. I have had a dream for several years to create a literary magazines for students all around the world and this seemed to be a good first step in that direction. I want this site to be a place where students can come for free and not only read but also contribute their own ideas and participate as much as possible.
If you are a teacher and would like me to do a reading or writing project with your class, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I would love to talk to you or your class by Zoom (or some other platform) and if you are located near Erie, Pennsylvania in the US, which is where I live, I would happy to come in to talk to your class.
