The Pentadent Meets

The Five had gathered. A box sat in the middle of the council table.

“Let’s vote,” #1 said. “I think it’s okay. #2?”

“Acceptable.”

“Fine.”

“Passable.”

A nervous pause.

“I don’t like it,” #5 said finally.

A sigh of exasperation.

“You never like anything,” #2 said.

“I did some digging,” #1 said. “You’re not even a real dentist. You’re a veterinarian.”

A shocked gasp.

“Vets work on teeth,” #5 said, suddenly defensive. “Many kinds.”

“Take him away,” #1 said. Guards hauled #5 away, still screaming “my opinion matters!”.

“Anyway,” #5 said. “Can we agree that it’s fine? Great, meeting adjourned.”

“Well, I’m back,” he said.

I’m back from unintentionally taking the summer off from Friday Fictioneers. Every week I’ve meant to write a story, but it has just been such an insanely busy time that I haven’t been able to. Not that it’s much better now, but I’ll do my best. Have a good weekend!

This sounds a little too much like real life, David! Excellent take, though 🙂

  3. Now you’ve got me thinking my dentist who one could say is a little unconventional, might moonlight as a vet. There are always animals in the waiting room be assuming belonging to patients, but maybe…it’s the other way around. Oh my.
