Wilson’s Flora Mortuary
Welcome to Wilson’s Flora Mortuary. Sorry for your loss. What was it? A cherry tree, 4 months old? A tragedy. They’re so fragile at that age.
Here at Wilson’s, we handle funerals for everything from flowers to fully grown trees. Mostly houseplants, honestly.
We can have the service here or outside. Did it have a favorite song? No, I suppose not. Kiss from a Rose is always popular, although Miley Cyrus’s Flowers is big now.
Yes, tomorrow works. We’ll see you then.
Tell your friends about Wilson’s Flora Mortuary. No, not Wilson’s Kindling and Mulch next door. Totally unrelated business.

Hahaha! Great voice and the ending is perfect!

yep, I’m sure a lot of them don’t have much of life span.

Why not go straight to the mulching?

I enjoyed how the story implies a deep emotional attachment to the plants, household favourites that have passed. As for the business next door feeding off the mortuary – not fooling anyone.
Taken a step further, those who fail to nurture and water their household plants – that have died – should face justice through the Horticultural Courts.
Light hearted humour.

Now that would be a great sequel to this, prosecuting the herbicidal maniacs that go on vacation without getting anyone to water their plants. 🙂

This story made me grin, then go awww…and I finished with a laugh out loud! Such a fun, clever way to do the prompt!
Id like to share this, re blog, if that’s okay?

Hahaha! TOTALLLY different business next door… though, surely, a partnership could be forged… you know, after the formalities…

Dear David,
Oh clever you. Sadly this is a service I could use. Plantlife cowers as I pass by. Good job.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Thanks, Rochelle. I’ve had enough houseplants to know, but we’ve had mixed success with the outdoor ones.

I love this! I would need this service often, the ending is humorously ominous,

Yeah, we could use this a lot, I’m afraid. We’ve had a string of small cherry trees die, which inspired that part of it.
