A Sign of the Times

I remain frozen as I watch them approaching. The board feels heavy, but I don’t even twitch.

“This place looks good. Ooh, they got chili fries.” The family inspects the menu in my hands. “Wow, this sign looks so realistic.”

Heck yeah, it’s realistic. Underneath the paint, I’m 100% living ex-computer programmer. ChatGPT may have taken my career, but nothing can keep me down.

“Did it just move?”

“No way.”

You bet there’s no way. My face is unmoving but internally I’m grinning. I am going to rock this job.

I’d like to see AI try to replace me now.

  1. So love the last line. If I ever meet Al, I’m going to smack him good and hard.

      1. Next we’ll have a robot as president. Oh, that kinda sounds redundant. 🙂

An animatronic robot would do nicely.

    1. yes, definitely. I thought it was funny since although AI can’t replace him, a tripod probably could do nicely. 🙂

    1. That would be the hardest part of being a living statue, I think. That and having and itch you can’t stratch.

  7. Dear David,

We can only hope Ai will leave this job alone. Meanwhile I dodge the “offers” on Facebook, on Word, etc etc. Love this. Hope you’re having a good week.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

    1. Thanks, Rochelle. I’m sorry I didn’t participate last week and after you picked my photo too. I had a story ready too but it was a crazy week and did not get to it.
