Evening Concert at False Alarm City

Two wires lead from the ground, the only link to the people below. I connect my guitar and microphone.

“How’s the weather in there today?” I ask.

Last year, we thought an asteroid was going to kill us all. 100 super-rich preppers descended to their bunker and sealed the door, leaving the rest of humanity to perish.

It was a false alarm, but now they can’t get the nuclear-blast-proof door open. And boy, have they tried.

At least they get live music every evening.

“Sit back, relax, and enjoy,” I say. “First up, Stuck with You, then Nowhere to Run.

I want to apologize to my fellow Fictioneer writers that I haven’t been able to read your stories the last few weeks. It’s been a pretty grueling time here for various reasons and while I managed to get a story written and posted, I couldn’t do much else. I’ll try to read as many of yours this week as I can. Have a good week!

    1. Thank you, although I do enjoy reading other stories. But yes, it seems like most of my free time is taken up and just writing my story takes a lot of it.

    1. Thanks for your kind words and I’m glad you liked the story. Yes, there could be worse things than all the billionaires disappearing, although it’s more about the system that produces them. Have a great week!
