Audition

I showed up early for the Musikour audition at the dance studio. Parkour with music, they said.

The door was barred by a high metal barrier. Fair enough; I’d expect nothing less. Humming a happy tune, I scaled the fence, hoping this was being recorded.

The door was locked. This was getting more intense. Bopping along to my internal soundtrack, I got out my lockpicks and picked the lock. Not traditional parkour, but apparently Musikour was different.

There were looks of shock when I walked in.

“You were supposed to use the other door. Didn’t you see the sign?”

Oh.

  4. I love…internal soundtrack. There’s such a joy in Flash Fiction…like a good snack when not able to read something longer. Dale’s photo is wonderful, as usual.

Love the simple error of trying to enter the wrong way. I’ve done that so many times.

Let’s hear it for art imitating life. 🙂

This is great. His enthusiasm and maybe the soundtrack he was bopping along to got in the way of his common sense. Such fun. Love it.

  11. Dear David,

Now there’s an innovator. However, stopping to read might have saved him the effort. Leave it to you to pick the locks of our imaginations.
