Yarns for Science
“Be creative,” Mom said.
“But not too creative,” Dad said.
“80 skeins of yarn, please,” Travis said.
“That’ll be $220,” the shopkeeper said. “Plus tax.”
“I hope coins are okay,” Shane said.

“We received a complaint,” the cop said. “About this.” He pointed to the yarn contraption.
“It’s a cat-a-pult,” Travis said.
“It’s true,” Mrs. Graves said from her porch. “That kitty flew!”
“She’s fine,” Jenny said, cradling a traumatized Lady Whiskers. “She liked it.”

“Creative,” Mr. Jarvis said. “But problematic. No animal testing.” He made a note.
Will Cats Always Land on Their Feet? the science fair presentation proclaimed.

This past week I finally posted the first video on my YouTube channel that’s linked with the Green-Walled Treehouse. It’s a weekly series called Let Me Tell You a Story, where I tell fairy tales or stories of my own. They’ll be posted every Friday from now on. Check it out if you’d like and subscribe if you’d like to see more.
If they don’t, it could be a problem.

Well, Lady Whiskers seemed to have pulled through, so that’s a good thing, at least.

Full marks for her rigorous testing of the truth behind the saying. An ethics class may be in order though

Yeah, maybe some project a little less creative too.

Love the name Lady Whiskers. No animal testing…I too will make a note. This was fun…much imagery to swoon on. 🙂

I actually got this one posted early in the day since I was here anyway. It came to me more easily than some, luckily.

You’re so good at flash fiction. You do them easily…like a quick workout before one of your other projects. 🙂

A cat-a-pult! Those kids are definitely creative. I like all the voices putting in their two cents’ worth. Fun.

I liked the boyish playfulness of this. And the different voices.

My, my Shane pays in coins, cleaning out the pocket money box.
That is one way of getting cats out of the garden.

Whimsical fun. Cat-a-pult, huh? I sure hope someone tells us what that contraption is!

Dear David,
It sounds like Travis is a brilliant kid. I’m guessing Lady Whiskers landed on her feet. 😉 Clever story. I also stopped and enjoyed your fish tale. I’m still trying to imagine the fish shrugging.

I loved the construction. The concept of flying puss-cat less so. Good take.

Oh no, I hope Lady W doesn’t have to do more than 8 tests in total. Ideally not even that!
Very creative on your part as well as Travis’.
Good luck with the Youtube channel – I’ll bookmark it for after my guests leave.
