Muse on Monday – April 10, 2023

Today is the last day of a 5-day weekend we got at work for Easter. The nice thing about vacations is that they are a change from the normal routine. This is why a lot of stories take place when people are on vacation since they are in new places and having new experiences.

However, if you going to write a story about a vacation, there needs to be conflict, so probably something is going to go wrong. It doesnโ€™t have to be earth-shaking, although the higher the stakes, the higher the tension in the story.

Story Prompt: April 10, 2023

Write a story about a vacation or holiday where something goes wrong.

Vacation doesn’t mean a tropical location or somewhere with a lot of tourists (although it could). Maybe the character tells everyone they are going away but then secretly stays home. There are a lot of possibilities.

If you want to share your story, you can either email me at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com or submit it at the link here. I’d love to publish your story as well. I’ll try to write a story myself about this prompt and post it in the next while.

  1. I at once started to hear the theme from Jaws.

I remember a vacation where, the weather got so bad that I ended up spending the 5 days at the airport motel. I was young and had a great time with my honey bun of the moment, not realizing or maybe realizing, not getting on the plane to go to Alcapulco, that I spelled wrong, wasn’t the worst way to spend your vacation ๐Ÿ™‚

I love how you use your actual life in your Muses. Waste not, want not. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I remember camping once with my family in a terrible thunderstorm with rain pouring down on the tent and the air filled with thunderclaps. That wasn’t something that went wrong, I guess, just a close call. We did have to pack up in the rain sometimes though, which is never fun.
