Boot Reboot

“What’s this Leagz7 project you’re working on?” the CEO barked.

“Seven league boots,” Brad stammered. “Unfortunately, one foot originally traveled 21 miles before the other one moved.”

“Huh. Sounds like a crotchal—I mean, crucial design flaw.”

“We fixed that with Leagz7 2.0. Now just the boot travels, not the foot.”

“Where’s the market for that?”

“Wait, there’s more! We’re also developing a pogo stick that goes 15 miles with every bounce.”

“Good. But . . .”

“We can’t predict the direction it will travel, including up and down. However, we can include a parachute and a shovel with it, just in case.”

These boots are made for walking, Now all they need is for the boot to be able to do a day’s work before it returns

    1. That would be a good upgrade, a boot that can go pick up a gallon of milk or something. I’d get one of those.

I think he’s got a great future, perhaps not in quality control but… Very funny, David.

    1. Thanks, Sandra. That’s why I stick to fiction over engineering, you can make anything and no one (usually) ends up hurt or dead because of it.

I’d buy a pogo stick that did that!

    1. That would be a wild ride, to be sure. It would be useful as long as you needed to go exactly 15 miles away.

  4. Dear David,

I think I’ll just keep on walking, keeping my boots to myself. 😉 Clever and quirky as always.

    1. Thanks, Rochelle. Yes, the urge to make travel easier causes more troubles than it solves, at least in this case. Thanks for reading. Have a great week.

A parachute and a shovel? The market must be in the Department of Defense. It sure sounds like them.
    Fun story, David. 🙂

  14. Those inventions don’t seem to be reassuring. Though I’d like the pogo stick if they finally managed to fix it.
