Muse on Monday – March 23, 2026

If you’ve ever lain in bed trying to get to sleep, you know the battle that this can be. It’s also a vicious cycle of not being asleep, then being frustrated you’re not asleep, which wakes you up more. On the other hand, there are times when you are fighting not to fall asleep (such as when driving or on guard duty). What I’m saying is that there is a lot of conflict that takes place on the borders of sleep.

Story Prompt: March 23, 2026

Write a story about going to sleep

Another problem with sleep is that it is not always safe to sleep because of the weather or other people or animals. There is a host of other problems that might happen around sleep in the real world, let alone getting in fantastical situations of people attacking you in your dreams (such as in A Nightmare on Elm Street). Use your imaginations.

If you write a story for this prompt, send me a link to your story on your own site, either in the comments or at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit your story here for a chance to have it published on the site next week.

Happy birthday, if it happens to be your birthday this week. 🙂

  1. Sleep for me is half the answer to most of life’s troubles. To shut it all down is really such a gift, so when you can’t sleep. Oh my!

One of my tricks is naming all the U.S Presidents. More interesting than sheep. If that doesn’t work, we haul out the old gratitude list hoping those angels will wing in and sing you a lullaby.

I so love this week’s graphic. I’d like to steal it. 🙂
