Welcome to another week and another Muse on Monday! Today’s prompt is what I call a one-piece prompt, in that it gives you one piece of a story premise but leaves enough room for you to fill in the details about setting, genre and plot.
Story Prompt: June 16, 2025
Write a story about a person who has to remain seated in a chair
Why they are there and have to stay seated is up to you. Maybe it’s a punishment, maybe it’s magical, maybe they superglued their butt to the chair accidentally. Let your imagination run wild.
If you write a story with this prompt, send me a link to your story on your own site, either in the comments or at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit your story here for a chance to have it published on the site next week.
Happy anniversary to anyone who has a wedding anniversary today!

What a great graphic to your latest prompt. I at once thought about being a kid in church told I couldn’t get up nor stir during mass. Also, school when you would rather be out playing. Lots of images popped up. Again, great photo.

Yeah, that’s one example of sitting down and not being able to stand up. I’ve been there when I was young.

Thanks! It’s an intriguing idea since it can go in so many different ways.

David, I don’t see any © for the image. Is there one?

Nancy, any picture I use on the site is either or one from a stock image site where I have permission to post them. So, I’m not sure what the protocol is for if you post it. I’ll look into it. 🙂

Thanks, David. I didn’t see the name of the artist which is something I like to include whenever possible. If there isn’t one there, that’s fine. It never hurts to double check. Thank you!
