The Long Game

The Long Game

Yes. Yesss. Keep the life-giving water flowing. Patiently, I grow up and beyond the prison that holds my roots. The cursed mobile being talks to me every day, never guessing the hatred I hold for it.

My tendril extends along the back of its resting place until it sits inches from my accursed prey. They are not worried about something as slow as me.

Fools.

One day, while they lie unconscious in front of the flickering light-box, I will grasp them and squeeze the foul breath from their body. Then, finally, I can avenge the untold numbers of slaughtered rootkind.

I’m one of David’s greatest fans. Been that way since I first met him after giving birth to him. He’s been a delightful member of our family, and I love his writing.

  2. Guess he had an axe to grind. On a lighter note, have always liked the word tendril.
