It’s Crazy, I Know

Don’t bother telling me, I know it’s crazy.

I saw her once for three seconds two weeks ago as my train passed. She was wearing overalls, and as I passed, she was reaching up to the branch of a tree.

Her village doesn’t have a station. I figured out the name by calculating the average speed of the train and time from the last station. Through Google maps, I found her house.

And now I’m standing outside her front door, frozen with indecision.

I should probably leave. This is absolutely crazy.

I’m just turning to flee when the door opens.

I’m going to let you decide how this story ends. It’s mean, I know.

I took this picture from a train going from Moscow to St. Petersburg years ago. I was surprised just how rural the area between the two largest cities in Russia really is. It just emphasizes how big Russia is.

No matter how it ends I think her first thought may be ‘who is this stalker?’ but then it is rural Russia and the pickings might be slim so maybe any attention is better than none. Thought provoking write if you hadn’t already noticed…

  2. I think she’ll be flattered that you’ve gone to so much trouble to meet her. Women are easily wooed in this respect. Trust me. I can just see you standing there about to run when that door opens.

I always love your FFs. Great photo too. 🙂

Ambivalence is what I feel in reading the story. I do not know whether to be happy because he found where she lived or be terrified that an obsessed person is at a stalking target’s door. I really hope you write a part 2, David.

  6. Dear David,

Thank you for identifying the location. Of course I just trolled your FB page and helped myself. 😉

Very clever to leave the reader to decide the ending. But clever is what I expect from you.

    Shalom,
