People love symmetry because it feels right having things match up. You have a superhero, but also a supervillain. You start your story on a bus and end it on a bus. You have two main characters, one very rich and one very poor.
There are lots of ways to have symmetry or mirror elements in your story, but usually there are two things that are similar except in one aspect. This could be in setting or characters or themes. Right now I’m reading The Borrowers, by Mary Norton, where there is a friendship between a boy and a girl. They are about the same age but one is tiny and the other huge (relatively).
