Tunnel of … Something
Hannah and Brett floated on a small boat through the dark tunnel. Pop music played softly. They passed a TV showing a baseball game.
“You doing okay?” Brett asked.
“Yeah.”
“You think it’ll rain tomorrow?”
“Maybe. Ugh, I need to think of something for supper tonight.”
“Get a pizza.”
“I’ll just have chicken nuggets again. Is this ride almost over?”
“No idea.”
“Why are we here again?”
“The rollercoaster was down, remember? Did you want to go through the Tunnel of Love?”
“Well, not with you. No offense. Why did they even build this?”
“I think for situations like this.”

My heart went at the, “no offense, Why did they even build this?”
Imagine what that dd to the Tunnel of Love’s self-esteem.
Great as always. You can whip these out in your sleep.
Wonderful photo by Dale.

I love the absurdity of someone building a boring clone of a tunnel of love just to give people who weren’t in love something to do. 🙂 Yes, my typical bizarre take on things.

Well, if that wasn’t the crushing final blow! I’d allow her to pay for her own nuggets…
Excellent write.

Thanks, Violet. It’s definitely not much of a date if that’s what they were after.

I love the idea of a tunnel of mundanity

Yeah, me too. I could almost see it working in real life too, at least for people that wanted to ride it ironically.

I’m left wondering why she even went to the amusement park with him. Poor bugger has obviously misfired on this one!
Nicely done, David.

Thanks, Dale. One thing I love about FF is that you see how other people saw your story. I wrote this as they were just two bored friends, not that either liked the other. But if he did have any designs on her, I wouldn’t bet on it.

I know what you mean. And I love the variety of the stories created from one image. As for yours, yes, I so see it now 🙂

Poor guy! I don’t think they’re going anywhere further than the end of the tunnel.

No, probably not. Thanks for reading, Angela.

Seems these two need to consider trying the bumper cars…knock a little life onto their relationship.

There you go. That would be more interesting for them, at least.

How sad. Hopefully, she didn’t want to go through the tunnel of love either. He seems like a bit of a dud. Great writing!

It’s funny that you said he was a dud and Lisa said she was. I guess in any case, they’re definitely not a match. 🙂

Dear David,
Perfect title. The Tunnel of Love it isn’t, at least not for this couple. Cute.

Thanks, Rochelle. Glad you liked it. I guess the Tunnel of Awkward Silences wouldn’t be great marketing.
I hope you’re doing well and survived the wintery weather that hit you guys before.

Darn, but maybe it is best if he does not capture her interest. She sounds like a dud (sorry!)

yeah, I tried to write it as unromantic as possible, haha. I don’t think they have the chemistry needed.

Jeez, with these two I’m not even sure we can call it The Tunnel of Like!
Great premise, David.
