These days spring is turning into summer and everything (at least where I live) is green and growing. Plants in stories are not usually the main focus but sometimes are used as signals of the mood or atmosphere of the story or setting. For example, if plants are dying, that is a bad sign but then once balance is restored, things get green again.
Plants, whether trees or flowers or anything else, can be a great focus for a story though, from a cannibal plant as in Little Shop of Horrors to the Two Trees in The Silmarillion or something mundane, yet poignant like the tree in the O. Henry story The Last Leaf.
Story Prompt: May 13, 2024
Write a story about a plant.
It can be about more than one, of course in any genre or tone you want. If you write a story for this, you can send me a link to your story if you’ve posted it somewhere or send it to me at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit your story here for a chance to have it published on the site next week. I will post my story for this prompt next week as well.
Good luck and happy writing! Come back next Monday for another story prompt.

A plant. Hmm. I have a brown thumb so this will take some thought. Now you on the otherhand, are becoming quite the gardener.
Love the group shot this week. So versatile. You see more every time you look back at it. Like they’re popping out from behind a curtain. 🙂
