Muse on Monday – February 19, 2024

Happy Monday, everyone! It’s Presidents’ Day in the United States, so many people have the day off school or work, but not me. Luckily, I usually like my job.

I was thinking today that many stories have to do with the children of royalty: princesses and princes, specifically. It’s a common story type, especially dealing with all the pressures of living in a castle or palace and all the other parts of leading a country. However, it is much less common to have stories about the children of other types of leaders and the lower down you get, the less common it is. For instance, it would be interesting to write about a mayor’s daughter or the son of a post-apocalyptic commune leader.

Story Prompt: February 19, 2024

Write a story about a child of a leader (not a king or queen)

You can send me a link to your story if you’ve posted it somewhere or send it to me at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit your story here for a chance to have it published on the site next week. I will post my story for this prompt next week as well.

Good luck and happy writing! Come back next Monday for another story prompt.

  1. I missed this somehow. A child of a leader. I can’t help but to think of those iconic photographs of John Kennedy Jr. hiding under his father’s desk in the Oval Office with a grin that could heal the world.

    1. yeah, exactly. I was thinking of TR’s kids too, running wild around the White House. I did start a story for this but didn’t get it done before my trip. I’ll post it next week maybe.

      1. I just put TR’s kids sneaking the pony on the White House elevator into a blog essay. I love that story. They were so mischievous. It was simply great, especially the Teddy thought so too. 🙂
