Muse on Monday – December 11, 2023

In North America, at least, December is often a crazy time of year. Christmas and New Year’s dominate the month and there are all kinds of holiday celebrations and end of year events. There can be pressure to layer on traditions, so that there is a lot to plan for.

Each tradition and event has a reason but sometimes people do things for holidays simply because they’ve always been done. This is the case for any holiday but especially around Christmas.

Imagine another holiday and write a story about it. Think of the reason for the holiday and some of the events around it. This can be a funny or absurd story or serious, even dark and scary.

Story Prompt: December 11, 2023

Write a story about a fictional holiday.

You can send me a link to your story if you’ve posted it somewhere or send it to me at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit your story here for a chance to have it published on the site next week.

Good luck and happy writing! Come back next Monday for another story prompt.

  1. This graphic is one of your best. A fictional Christmas…hmm…I’d like to write a story about a family that didn’t end up getting drunk on spiked eggnog, then throwing things at each other.

But my other thought would be at midnight, all the decorations on everyone’s lawn, got up and boogied, including Mary, Joseph and the 2 wisemen. Muse on Monday never fails to inspire even if its a little lunacy. We so like that. 🙂
