Maid My Skin Crawl
“You killed her!” Janice said. We stood regarding the prone figure on the floor.
“I’m sorry!” I protested. “I came out of the bathroom and saw a doll with glowing eyes.”
Matt picked up the doll. “Well, they’re not glowing anymore. What did you do?”
“Exorcism . . . I panicked.”
“Exorcism! How do you know how to do that?”
“YouTube videos.”
Janice sighed. “Sure, she was a possessed doll, but she was helpful. She tidied up. Now we need a new housekeeper.”
Matt looked around. “Maybe her spirit’s still around. Was there a YouTube video on performing a re-inhorcism, by any chance?”

For this one, I thought about going with a sea theme because of the walls but eventually went with this story because of the stuff animals on the floor.
Makes me think of a robot and its software (the spirit)…

yeah, kind of like that. Just need to reboot the doll spiritually, somehow. Or maybe turn it into a robot.

I use YouTube for a lot of things these days. I haven’t looked for exorcisms, but I’m sure they’re on there.

I recommend the summoning demons incantation

Just don’t end up with a poltergeist. Those are the opposite of the tidying-up sort of spirits.

Dear David,
I’m sure there’s a You Tube video for everyhing–how to eat, how to sleep, even how to wear clothes. (Yeah, I had to). I love what you did with the title. Quirky and imaginative as always.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Thanks, Rochelle. Title are hard sometimes so I like when I can think of a good one. Thanks for reading, as always. Have a good week.

This is that moment in the horror movie where you scream at the TV that they should NOT open that door!

True, when you wonder how they can’t hear the creepy music.

Creepy. I know some people who are actually afraid of dolls. Maybe they have good reason 🙂

I can see where the stories come from, even if there is nothing actually spooky about them. They have uncanny faces oftentimes.

Probably better off without her. A human maid would do well. Well done.

true, at least you won’t have people freaking out when they see a human maid.

If it’s not you YouTube I guess we really don’t need it! This was a fun story.

They’ll need a video on how to clear up!

They need to buy a roomba and call it good. No telling what they would bring back. Imaginative storytelling, David.

Hmm, good point. That’d be a great twist if they did try to get her back.

A demon housekeeper. Creep story.

Of course I wonder how this all started. Maybe she was just bored and started tidying up. 🙂

Ha! I love this. Such a twist. And ‘re-inhorcism’! What the … ?!

yeah, that’s not really a word since probably nobody has ever wanted to re-possess someone before. 🙂

I want that doll too. How I hate housework. Very unique take on the prompt. Great tittle too.
