A Real Vacation

A Real Vacation

Allison woke to the sun shining through the tent door. She made breakfast and sat looking out over the valley.

This is what I need. A real vacation.

The breeze smelled like pine. Too much? No, just right.

Relax. You are alone in the Scottish Highlands for four days. Enjoy it.

The sun flickered, then went out.

A door opened. “The Amazon next door flooded,” a worker said. “We’re evacuating.”

Ten minutes later, Allison was on the street outside the warehouse with her backpack.

“Sorry about that,” the man said. “See you again, and thanks for taking a Real Vacation™!”

I’m with Neil… a bad holodeck program, indeed. Next time, I’d choose something further away from the water. LOL!

A more grounded mix of Total Recall and Strange Days. It will be like that once the novelty has worn off and the equipment has worn out. I see Amazon is still around though. Nice touch!

  8. I do like the idea of a real vacation, but it seems even they can go wrong.

    1. I suppose nothing foolproof. I don’t know if I’d want to do a simulated vacation like this but could be an interesting experience.
