I don’t know about you, but this past week was a long week for me. I work in a university, and we have hundreds of new students arriving and getting ready to start classes. It’s hard to find time to eat sometimes, let alone write stories. Sometimes when you are busy and tired it is hard to even think creatively.
However, even when you are tired, stories are all around you, floating silently like dandelion seeds on breezes of inspiration. They just take a little watering. When you see something interesting, ask yourself why it’s that way. This can lead to other questions and soon the story is taking root.
This week’s prompt is a first line of a story. It’s short, so it’s up to you to ask the questions that will help the story bud and start to grow in your mind.
Story Prompt: August 22, 2022
Bread meant everything.
If you want to share your story, you can either email me at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com or submit it at the link here. I’d love to publish your story as well.

Have a good week.
This is right up my alley…stories are all around you, floating silently like dandelion seeds on breezes of inspiration. Love that image and it’s so true, if we only pay attention…look up from our phones.
Bread meant everything…the bread of life, give us our daily bread…one of my all time favorite meals is, bread with a pear and a nice hunk of cheese. Bread and water, bread and chocolate, bread smeared with butter and jam. Bread meant everything.

I figured you’d like that image. One of the best meals I’ve had was a small loaf of freshly baked bread with a wedge of brie and a bottle of Coke as we drove through southern Spain. Sometimes simple is best.
