I don’t know anyone who loves traffic, unless it’s your job to study traffic patterns. However, there are a lot of chances for conflict when you have hundreds of people driving vehicles in close proximity, each with their own emotions, personal situations and levels of distraction. That’s not including all the things that could happen inside a vehicle in traffic that has nothing to do with the traffic itself (arguments, robberies, women having babies, etc.)

Story Prompt: March 9, 2026

Write a story that takes place in traffic

Traffic can mean a traffic jam, or just traveling along a road in a bus, car, truck, bicycle, etc. It can be traffic in a totally different setting if you want (flying cars, ants coming out of an anthill, etc.)

If you write a story for this prompt, send me a link to your story on your own site, either in the comments or at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit your story here for a chance to have it published on the site next week.

Happy Teacher’s Day in Lebanon. If you’re a teacher, I hope you have an amazing day anyway, but especially if you’re a teacher in Lebanon. That whole area is having a hard time these days.

  1. Living in the city I don’t drive but traffic when one’s on foot can be as perilous as zooming around in a car. If I were to write a story it would be about driving on foot. Rather than cars you have pedestrians on their phones causing near fatal accidents. I just had a Bladerunner flashback. 🙂
