The Murder House (Allegedly)

There goes another one, walking into the quaint Island Meats house. The problem is, people go in but no one comes out.

I’ve been watching from the café across the street for the last four hours. Tally: 56 people entering, 0 exiting.

Finally, I called 911.

“. . . and I think, maybe, they’re killing the people and using them for the meat,” I conclude.

“Sir, have you actually gone over there?” the officer says.

“Do I dare?”

“Just try.”

Inside the door of Island Meats, a cheery sign says Please exit through the back door to reduce congestion.

Oh.

Thanks, Rochelle, for choosing my picture for this week’s prompt. This was taken on Mackinac Island, up in northern Michigan. It’s a quaint little island that has no cars, just horse-drawn wagons, and more fudge per capita than anywhere else I’ve been.

  4. Funny story. I can imagine an entire sinister plot unclouded by facts but I don’t usually call the police. Ha ha

    Thanks for the photo,

    1. Thanks, Tracey. I also would imagine things but never get around to acting on it, probably. At least not by calling the police.

    1. Yes, either a writer or a reader of lots of crime novels. Luckily there is usually a mundane reason for mysterious things.
