Story Prompt: December 2, 2024

Write a story that takes place at a concert.

Decide what kind of concert it is and listen to that music as you write, just for inspiration. Remember that the tone of the music does not have to match the tone of the story (you can have a cute, romantic story at a death metal concert or a horror story during a classical music concert).

As with any story, think of the location as a kind of character. It does not have to dictate the story, but it should influence the story in some way. For example, a story that takes place during a concert will not (or at least should not) be identical to one that takes place at home.

You can send me a link if you write a story for this prompt and post it on your own site or send it to me at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit your story here for a chance to have it published on the site next week.

Have a great week and stay warm!

  1. Love how you juxtaposed romantic and heavy metal. A brilliant example of letting one’s prose go full tilt.

I remember hearing James Taylor sing at Carnegie Hall. Whi;e he was looking, Carole King crept on stage and began playing piano. He was over the moon. They then sang You Got Friend, and the whole place went nuts.

Thanks for letting your prompt tap into that memory. It was romantic, loud and startling. 🙂

    1. I’ve honestly not been to many concerts, maybe only 2-3 in my life that I can think of. I think it’s mostly that I’ve never lived anywhere that has a lot of them nearby since there are bands I’d love to see in concert.

      1. That could change. You drive places like it’s nothing. I could see you motoring to a concert somewhere, like even here. 🙂
