Muse on Monday – October 28, 2024

It is the last week of October, which means Halloween is just a few days away. I have never done much for Halloween, even when I was a kid, but I do like creepy stories and the season when it is getting darker and colder is a great time for that.

Story Prompt: October 28, 2024

Write a ghost story

I don’t think I’ve ever had a prompt to write a ghost story before, although I’ve written them before. If you do write one, try to make it creative and something no one has done before. Maybe a haunted pen that writes creepy things sometimes? I’m sure it’s been done before but the point is to put your own spin on it.

You can send me a link if you write a story for this prompt and post it on your own site or send it to me at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit your story here for a chance to have it published on the site next week.

Have a great last few days of October. Stay safe.

  1. I remember my mother always dressing me up like beatnik. Just once, I would have liked to have been a witch. The Wizard of Oz my favorite film, liking the mean witch better because, as I told everyone who would listen, she needed a friend. Even at 9 I rooted for the underdog, or under-witch in this case.

I love how you come up with an idea every week. Your creativity never sleeps. 🙂

  2. PS I actually saw a ghost once staying in an old mansion in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her name was Mrs. Carter and was the original owner dating back to the Revolutionary War. It was one of the few homes that weren’t burnt because the British used it for their headquarters. I was coming from the bathroom when I saw an older woman in a white nightgown looking out the window. When I asked who was staying in the room next to me, my hosts said no one. But knew who it was since she made cameos.
