Do you like dreaming? I have had dreams that I was so sad to wake up from and others where I was so relieved to find it was a dream. A few times I have realized I’m in a dream, although not often.
Dreams in stories usually start out normal and then as things start to get weird we begin to suspect it’s all a dream. Then the character suddenly wakes up. Unless it is a story like the movie Inception where we know (usually) if the characters are in a dream or not.
I don’t usually write dreams into my stories but there is sometimes a place for them, based on the kind of story you are writing. Because dreams in real life often make no sense, be sure if you write a story with a dream that it either has a plot in itself or at has a place in the overall story.
Story Prompt: June 24, 2024
Write a story either about a dream or one that is entirely a dream
If you write a story for this, you can send me a link to your story if you’ve posted it somewhere or send it to me at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit your story here for a chance to have it published on the site next week. I will post my story for this prompt next week as well.
Good luck and happy writing! Have a wonderful week.

I too have had blissful dreams I never wanted to wake up from. My favorite is when I can suddenly hear normally again, and how it doesn’t seem like a dream at all.
Another favorite is strolling through the Galleria in Milan, one of my favorite all time places. You can see the Duomo in the distance when you come in or out beneath its incredible ornate high ceiling.
Yes, dreams can be their own life force to be sure. Always look forward to MUSE since she gets me automatically to dream. 🙂
