It might seem strange, but horror stories don’t have to be scary, at least not as some as others. They can even be funny. If you do a search for horror comedy movies, you’ll find quite a few.

In these cases, horror comedies are stories that deal with scary things but do it in an exaggerated or humorous way. This often uses what is called dark comedy, which is when a writer makes jokes about normally serious things, like death. Sometimes they make fun of horror story tropes, such as zombies, being stuck in a remote cabin, serial killers, etc.

This week, I challenge you to write a funny horror story. Since I like this kind of story too, I’ll be sure to post mine next week as well.
