Muse on Monday – October 9, 2023

Welcome to the second Monday of October and the 2nd week of our series of prompts on scary stories. Last week we looked at technology, but today we’ll look at people.

What makes a person scary? Obviously if they want to hurt you or others, but sometimes it’s just the way they think or behave. After all, the unknown is one of the scariest things there is, so a person might be scary if we don’t know what they are thinking or what they might do next, at least if those things were hurting people.

Story Prompt: October 9, 2023

Write a story about a scary person.

Some possibilities might be stalkers or murderers but often a person doesn’t have to actually do anything bad to be scary. The threat of violence can be enough. Of course, it could all end up being a misunderstanding, so maybe there wasn’t a reason to be scared of them. People have a lot of unjustified fear.

You can send me a link to your story if you’ve posted it somewhere or send it to me at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit your story here for a chance to have it published on the site next week.

Good luck and happy writing! Come back next Monday for another story prompt.

  1. My mother comes to mind, especially this morning.

One of my favorite stories is Hansel and Gretel. I tales about like witches…also, the mean one in The Wizard of Oz whose sister had a house drop on her. Served her right. All those wicked spells clearly reap bad karma. Wouldn’t a say? That’s a lesson alright.

Love in the graphic how they’re holding hands like a cozy coven. 🙂
