It may not be officially summer yet and the temperature here today was similar to what it was in March, but it is June, so summer is basically here.
That got me thinking of summer blockbusters. There are apparently 11 defining features of a summer blockbuster, according to Fivethirtyeight, but blockbusters tend to be big, high stakes stories with colorful characters and more action than interpersonal drama. I’m not suggesting writing a screenplay for a blockbuster movie (unless you want to), but as a challenge, think about something along those lines.
Story Prompt: June 5, 2023
Write an action story reminiscent of a summer blockbuster movie.
This can be any length and be about anything. Try writing something outside your normal writing topics. If you want to share your story with me, leave a comment or send me an email at info@greenwalledtreehouse.com. You can also submit it at the link here.

I so love the graphic. She’s made me hungry. Funny you mention blockbusters; I a saw a line of school kids waiting to see a film. I wish I had asked what they were seeing, but dashed by regretting it now. Summer when I was a kid meant spending happy hours in an ice cold air-conditioned theatre with popcorn, Raisinettes and best friends. Thanks for excavating the memory. 🙂
